Family: Crazy, Loving, Beautiful...

I must say the timing of everyone in town at the same time was unplanned but so perfect! Once I heard everyone was going to be here the same weekend I rounded up a photo session. This is my Mothers side of the family. Look what my Grandparents started. (Missing 6 people)

Family Visits

I am so excited to have family from out of town visiting. My niece Taylor (14) came up from WA alone and is staying with us six days before her Mom comes up. We are having a lot of fun! The weather was so nice the first few days. We've walked, sat on the deck, became tourist for a day and she even went swimming in the ocean. When the sun disappeared we made cookies, painted our nails and watched movies. Still ahead: making cake pops, cookies, cupcakes, covered diaper wipe cases and make-up. :)

Today is already tomorrows thoughts.

Life is fast. To fast. With instant gratification at your fingertips, drive throughs at every corner, the sun setting just as fast as is rises, tv episodes in their 10th seasons, almost married for three years & your baby getting ready to crawl I find myself struggling to pause, take a break, listen and to smile just because. Smile at the five minutes of craziness and remember its not so bad. For Mothers day I got a flower from my sister. As the green turned to pink and yellow the flower bloomed. I... watched... it... bloom... I watched it! For the smallest reason I loved it. I loved that something so delicate, so beautiful was
happening and I got to watch it. I GOT TO PAUSE.
Don't forget to pause, sometimes, just sometimes, its beautiful.

Dear Bowers Family

Everyday you have the same routine. Your life is what you know and we tend to find a place that is comfortable.  Human nature is usually opposed to change leading even the happiest person to a negative place of comfort. The comfort that is known, safe but most of all easy.

Dear Bowers Family,

I can say we have been through a lot, a lot! We have opened up and loved through it all. We never held back which makes our friendship strong. No matter what life throws your way you are great at huddling together as family and waiting for the storm to pass. Better yet, you've learn to dance in the rain! Your family is beautiful and we are so blessed to have YOU be a part of our family in the most touching moments of our lives that we will remember forever. Your openness, protectiveness & love will be missed. I am so happy you have broken the place of comfort to get what your heart desires. What a great model for your children. I hope one day when the opportunity approaches me I will have the strength to take it just as you have. Love your guys so much and we will be visiting soon!

Love,
The Brissette's

"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand."

Mama Memories: Keeping your Faith

Over two years ago B and I started the journey to become parents. The news was thrilling but the sadness was overpowering two times in a row. When you go through grieving in life you meet and discover other couples journeys of sadness that have blossomed into a beautiful family based on faith. The challenges to starting our family was only a needle sewing together strength, love, hope and faith we couldn't see until our eyes were clear from all the lies we were believing of why life was being taking away from us. There was unspoken prayers, friends & families love and the strength of our marriage that kept us going. Looking back at the path God had chosen for us is something that made me believe in Hope and Faith that much more. It helped me understand how precious this time is now with my Son and how there is a diamond in the rough in almost everything you go through in life just depending on how you accept it.
I always knew one day we would have a family. I always kept praying but most of all I always had Faith.
Keep your Faith.

Bryson & Friend Lydia, two beautiful souls that were worth the wait.

Smoking Salmon

Growing up in Alaska and right on the ocean you can literally live off the land. We go crabbing, fishing, shrimping, clam digging and hunting. Come to think of it I live were others vacation. Not to shabby! I love it here. I feel safe.

The King Salmon Derby is over with my Dad in 3rd place! I finally got one my last day fishing. Man it was a long three weekends but always worth it.
After our fishing weekends my parents and I smoked up our salmon. Mouth watering I tell ya. Here is how we smoke our salmon...
Cut the salmon into your desired pieces.
Soak in a brine

Sprinkle with Black Pepper
Brush your marinade on every piece

Use Alder for your firewood
Make sure you have space between each piece for smoke to circulate.

Start your fire and get a good smoke.
Let the smoking begin!

ENJOY!!!!
